COLONEL GENE C. BUCKNER
 
Col. Gene C. Buckner is the 151st Air Refueling Wing Vice Commander, 151st Air Refueling Wing, Roland R. Wright Air Base, Salt Lake City Utah. 
 
Col. Buckner began his career as an enlisted member of the Utah Air National Guard in 1993. He earned his commission through the Air National Guard’s Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee in 1999. He was selected as Company Grade Officer of the Year by the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce in October 2007. Col. Buckner was the recipient of The Inspector General Coin for superb performance with the Air Force Wide implementation of the Air Force Inspection System October 2015.
 
Col. Buckner has served in a variety of command and supervisory positions at the, Wing, and Squadron levels including Base Training and Education Officer, Base Environmental Engineer, 151st Services Flight Commander, 151 Operations Support Squadron, Current Operations Scheduler, 130th Engineering Installation Squadron Detachment Commander, Commander 151st Civil Engineering Squadron, 151st ARW Inspector General, Commander 130th Engineering Installation Squadron and most recently he served as the 151st Mission Support Group Commander. He was activated as the Assistant Director of Operations for both Operation Iraqi freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
