Chief Master Sgt. James K. Lock

 

 

Chief Master Sergeant James K. Lock currently serves as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 151st  Wing at the Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base in Salt Lake City, Utah. The 151st WG is home to the 151St Maintenance Group, 151st Operations Group, 151st Mission Support Group, 151st Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Group, 151st Medical Group, 130th Engineering Installation Squadron and the 109th Air Control Squadron, the wing hosts a variety of diverse and complex mission sets. Chief Lock is the Wing Commander’s key enlisted advocate and advisor on operational effectiveness as well as provides leadership and guidance to organize, equip and train for mission readiness with ensuring the professional development of 1,369 enlisted Airmen.

Chief Lock enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1985 as a KC-135 A/R model Crew Chief. After graduating in November of 1985, he was assigned to the 319th Bomb Wing, Grand Forks Air Force Base, in North Dakota. In April 1990, he enlisted with the Utah Air National Guard and joined the 151st Maintenance Group as a KC-135E/R Model Crew Chief. In 2008, he was appointed as the Night Shift Flight Line Supervisor which was followed by his selection as the 151st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron First Sergeant in 2009. After serving in these roles for over four years, Chief Lock was selected as the Flight Line Day Shift Supervisor. In May of 2019, Chief Lock became the Equipment Maintenance Flight Superintendent in the 151st Maintenance Squadron where he ensured aircraft maintenance and safety for 10 assigned aircraft while providing mentoring and professional development to 230 Airmen. Prior to his current position, Chief Lock was the Senior Enlisted Leader for the 151st Medical Group (MDG) at the Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Chief Lock, while serving in a variety of operational and staff positions, also deployed in support of numerous military operations including DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM, DENY FLIGHT, WOLF PACK, JOINT ENDEAVOR, PROVIDE COMFORT, ALLIED FORCE, DELIBERATE GUARD, ENDURING FREEDOM, NORTHERN WATCH, NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM, DEEP FREEZE and EUROPEAN REASSURANCE INITTIATIVE.
